The wonderful couple of this ranch style 1967 home in SW Portland raised their family, put their kids through college and waited 30 years to make this home, especially the kitchen, their truly forever home.
Before work could be done the Asbestos discovered in the popcorn ceiling and original vinyl flooring was removed by an abatement company, leaving the way to update the ceiling brocade texture and install of new hardwoods to match the existing in entry wall and back hallway and bedrooms that were are refinished. Now the whole house, with the exception of the bathrooms, have hardwood flooring.

Revive designed the new kitchen to be open with clear sites on both sides of the original claustrophobic kitchen that was encased by a wall and upper cabinets over the peninsula into the family room. Lost storage from the wall removal was replaced on the back wall now incorporating the fridge, new stove range, wall microwave, and pantry cabinets, which is a lot more functional. The new cabinetry configuration allowed for more counter top work space with the two peninsulas’ along with new recessed lighting strategically placed for tasks performed in the new kitchen. The base cabinets were strategically chosen in a stain grade brownish grey color contrasting with wall of cabinetry and uppers painted in white. For displaying some her beautiful cookware, glass cabinet doors were placed on either side of the cook range. Pental Quartz Avenza counter tops that are white with slight veining in it keep the kitchen light and airy. The backsplash from counter top to upper cabinetry is Equipe Country Ash Blue subway tile that adds the right amount of color and interest.

The laundry room and one of the bathrooms were totally gutted and redone in addition to the open floor plan in the main part of the house. All new flat stock trim for windows and new doors, a fresh coat of paint in soothing neutral beige complete this whole house remodel into the new Century – well worth the wait!
