Converting a Garage Storage Room into an Entertainment Space

Off the main house and garage was a laundry area in a storage room that simply held these Beaverton homeowner’s excess of things. He wanted a man cave to watch his beloved sports games with their boys, she wanted a nice laundry room. The design concept was to make the room functional but stylish to coordinate with the rest of the house. The sunken floor was raised to be level with the main house entry by installing new floor joists along with new HVAC venting and insulation. Old doors and windows were moved and new ones were placed in the new configuration to add light and outdoor access. The laundry facilities were moved to another wall and enclosed in a closet that includes upper cabinets and a laundry sink tucked inside. Two large six panel solid doors close up the space when not in use.
