Galley Kitchen Efficiency

The homeowners of this 1933 bungalow called us back to remodel their kitchen because they were so thrilled with the bathroom we had previously remodeled for them. The galley kitchen had definitely seen its day and they desired a fresh look with a slight configuration change for the “Kitchen Triangle Rule”. First, gone is the electric range that was in an awkward location at the end of the countertop. A gas line was brought into the house for the new gas range, and who doesn’t love cooking on a gas range. The new design positioned it to the left of the fridge for a better triangle work space, and the microwave above for convenience (not on the countertop). The soffits and antiquated exhaust fan were removed to allow for the new taller cabinets (more storage is always a plus). During the demo stage we discovered a huge wasp next inside the floor joist, luckily it was long abandoned, but we could only imagine the “buzzing” that must have went on there.

In a home like this Shaker style cabinet doors felt right in keeping with some classic lines. The new quartz countertop is LG Viatera Rococo replicating a veined marble and is complimented with H-Line II Denim 3×6 subway tile for the backsplash, all in keeping a comprehensive vintage look. The vinyl flooring was replaced with Adura 12″ X 24″ Driftwood Luxury Vinyl planks, new taller baseboards, fresh paint, and adding a super fun twist are the modern lighting pendent and nook chandelier. This galley kitchen now reflects a refreshed look that will be timeless to the home for many decades to come.
