Iron Works with a Sculptural Statement

SE 14th Pl, Canby, OR, 97013

This elegant staircase equipped with finely detailed stair railings brings on the WOW factor. The homeowners wanted to remove the clunky railing walls at the bottom of the staircase and remove the wall upstairs that enclosed a second living space. To open up the walls, the best stair railing ideas will stay in step with the space, rather than detract. First, the carpet was replaced with solid wood treads stained to match existing cabinetry, with painted risers and stair skirts. Striking in its simplicity, yet not entirely traditional, this stair railing makes a sculptural statement that originates with its floor-set iron newel posts capped with top wood railing that curve with the various elevations. Black iron balusters embellished with knuckle-like details set in a pattern for further interest.
