Spice Racks

SW Tooze Rd, Wilsonville, OR

From French Provincial to Modern Farmhouse

This real farmhouse, with actual sheep on the property, had a worn in kitchen probably updated in the 90’s with a rustic style that originated from the provinces of France including open plate rack and decorative twisted trim moldings. A new kitchen was inspired by a friend whose kitchen we had remodeled – We Love Referrals!

The kitchen size did not change but the new design included the relocation of the cook top (out of the island onto the perimeter wall), along with the refrigerator and wall ovens that made more counter top space at the back wall. To make this kitchen a one of a kind the exhaust hood and the sink cabinet were made in a distressed rustic Alder with an arched toe kick. Hidden roll out spice racks left of the cook top make access while cooking a breeze. And for a classic touch of farm the island has a modern bead board paneling on the backside.

The used thin brick backsplash ramps up the charm of this kitchen including the additional surprise of the doorway wrap. And to keep it light and modern a 3CM Silestone Calacutta Gold in Suede finish has just a hint of browns in the veining coordinating with the hardwood flooring and Alder cabinets. Completing the “farm look” a white farm apron sink appears to be a natural to the cohesive design fitting for property and house setting
