SE 47th Ave, Portland
Built in 1904, this bungalow’s kitchen was closed off by a wall separating the dining room. The homeowner’s wanted more of an open concept with a kitchen update that also kept the integrity of the home’s age and blended nicely with its unique features. The initial design by Revive had the box beam ceilings to match the dining room extend into the kitchen, but budget constraints eliminated that project, so we opted to smooth wall texture the new ceiling to match other ceilings and walls. Hardwood flooring was installed into the kitchen and laced into the original flooring, sanded and stained. The new island cabinetry is a standalone feature in a wood stain, houses more storage, appliances, and casual seating for guests. Simplicity of the Edison pendant lights, and corner shelving along the window sides captivates the old world charm of this remodel.
