What a Kitchen Leak Can Do

Twin Fir Rd., Lake Oswego, OR

It happens, when a dishwasher leak flooded this 1959 home’s kitchen, it propelled the homeowner’s into action to completely change it up with the rebuild. Removing the soffits and peninsula upper cabinets completely altered the look creating great openness into the dining room. The stove top was relocated to the back wall leaving the peninsula open for major food prep and an eating bar. Every cabinet and drawer was carefully calculated for a purpose of housing kitchen necessities.

The finishes of “Coastal Grey” cabinets with matching wood hood were married with a Quartz Alabaster White solid stone countertop to keep things light and airy. The backsplash is adorned with 5” white hexagon matte tiles in a soft grey grout a classic with a twist of modern flair.

But it didn’t stop there. Removing the front door entry coat closet enabled the widening of the kitchen and into the living room entries, thus you guessed it, creating more open space. To anchor all of the living spaces a beautiful LVT Coretec Calypso Oak Plus 7 inch plank flooring was installed with all new 5” flat stock baseboards.

The final result literally transformed this charming Lake Oswego home from ho-hum to seemingly brighter and better functioning.
