The Revamping of an 80’s Builder Grade Staircase

SW Willamette Way East, Wilsonville

Back in the day, well in the 80’s, stair railings had skinny ornate newel posts with feeble white spindles spaced far wider than code requirements these days. This staircase was no acceptation to the era. To really modernize the look we removed the upstairs hall pony wall to expose more of the hallway and created the illusion of more space.

Instead of using standard black square metal balusters, unexpected pewter ones add to that distinctive look. Anchored with the new beefier newel posts lightly stained and freshly painted white bottom rails gives the stair case a refreshing modern but still traditional look that stays in line with the rest of the home.
